- The Conversation Project – The Conversation Project offers tools, guidance, and resources to begin talking with loved ones about your and their wishes, at the kitchen table—not in the intensive care unit. The organization’s goal is to have every person’s wishes for end-of-life care expressed and respected.
- Metro Volunteer Lawyers – Metro Volunteer Lawyers (“MVL”) is the pro bono program of the Denver Bar Association, providing civil legal services to those in need in Adams, Arapahoe, Broomfield, Denver, Douglas, Elbert, Gilpin, and Jefferson counties. Anyone seeking legal assistance or acceptance into any of MVL’s programs must apply through Colorado Legal Services, below.
- Colorado Legal Services – Colorado Legal Services (contact by phone at 303-837-1313 or apply online) is a non-profit organization that has assisted persons with low income and seniors in the state of Colorado for over 90 years. The mission of Colorado Legal Services is to provide meaningful access to high quality, civil legal services in the pursuit of justice for as many low-income persons and members of vulnerable populations throughout Colorado as possible.
- Colorado Judicial Branch – The Colorado Judicial Branch provides information about the Courts in the State of Colorado, including self-help forms.
- Denver Metro Area Self-Help Centers – Self-help centers often have packages of forms and instructions for sale.
- Legal Clinics – The Denver Bar Association offers pro se (do-it-yourself) clinics. These clinics assist with various legal processes and forms but do not provide explicit legal advice nor will they directly assist in completing forms.
- Colorado Revised Statutes – The Colorado Revised Statutes are the codified statutes of the Colorado General Assembly.
- Internal Revenue Service – Access a wide variety of tax information for charities, other nonprofits, individuals and more.
- Guidestar – Each year, millions of people use GuideStar information to make decisions about nonprofits and the work they do. The website also provides free public access to Form 990s.
- Charity Navigator – Charity Navigator has become the nation’s largest and most-utilized evaluator of charities, examining non-profit financial documents and developing an objective rating system. The rating system examines charity performance, financial health, accountability, and transparency and shows givers how efficiently a charity will use their support, how well it has sustained its programs and services over time and their level of commitment to good governance, best practices, and openness with information.
